MATLOCK RIVERSIDE

The works for Matlock Started in early November 2010,the first phase of the works will be to alter the trackwork at the connecting end of Riverside to connect to Network Rail, this will involve pointwork mainly, the second phase of installing the signalling at Riverside using the ex Luffenham signalbox and restoring the platform at Matlock will come afterwards.

Matlock Riverside is a semi-temporary wooden platform located about one quarter of a mile outside the railways southern goal of Matlock station which is operated by Network Rail, the platform here was rebuilt from the redundant Chee-Dale halt which Peak Rail ran services in connection with British Rail to in the early 1990s , recently there has been an extensive programme of local redevelopment works around the area in connection with a new superstore,bypass ,transport interchange and housing developments and it was Peak Rail`s goal in association with the works to get into the unused platform at the station at Matlock Network Rail one quater of a mile further on to interconnect with the services from the national network,which we completed over two years ago, as part of these works the requirement to be able to drop an engine on and off the train requires some resignalling to allow this to occur upon our side of the layout as well as providing a control point for the operations into Matlock itself.(This page; various views of the completed cabin at Riverisde in 2013).
